Four o'clock on a rainy Monday

I walked in the rain today, a half hour circuit around the village in the gathering four o'clock gloom. It was good to breathe fresh air and move my legs after four days without a walk, and it wasn't windy so I could take an umbrella. Everywhere, lighted windows looked cosy and inviting, with curtains still open. I try to keep my views into people's living rooms as unobtrusive as possible, fascinating as they are, but this is the pub in the square, so it's open for photography. It has recently re-opened after a very long refurbishment, and the building seems to have been carefully and sympathetically renovated; but the transformation of a popular local with saggy cushions, faded decor and large plates of traditional pub food at reasonable prices into a smart restaurant with a fashionable menu and very loud live music at weekends has not been popular with its neighbours, though the lamplit windows looked very pretty and welcoming from the rainy square.
