A banded dotterel …..

….. ….. ….. on the Lower Shotover river-flats.
I was so excited to see a pair of these dotterels, chatting away to each other. They were in breeding plumage and I’m sure there must have been a nest somewhere, but Missy and I stayed up on the track level, not wanting to disturb them. These are the first dotterels I’ve seen down here.

Missy & I had headed out for a walk along the Lower Shotover, after I’d been to yoga at my daughter’s, and then met up with a friend in Frankton.
