November Garden

Despite having posted photos of my garden many times, I decided to spare you the only other photos I took this afternoon, which showed the gory details of the inner workings of our cellar pump and an engineer power jetting the drain in our front drive …

We had our annual service of the cellar pump done this morning, and the pump engineer didn’t like the fact that the pump was going off every 20 seconds. He said far too much water was coming through the pump, and came to the conclusion that there was a blockage somewhere in the drain out to the road, which was recycling water back into the pump all the time.

We called HomeServe, and their engineer arrived this afternoon. He jetted the drain, but said there was a blockage somewhere in the road because the water was bubbling up. We have now contacted Thames Water and are waiting for them to check the sewer in the road. Meanwhile, the cellar pump has stopped frantically working overtime, so hopefully the jetting has dislodged a bit of the blockage. That put our minds at rest a bit, because it could be a few days before Thames Water arrive.
