Party

I'm still getting up late, and this morning it was dry for my walk with Django. There were some autumn colours around Penicuik, but the lack of sun made them look dull on photos.

Back home, there was little time to shower and iron some clothes before heading into Edinburgh for afternoon cocktails and tea to celebrate the 60th birthday of one of our former neighbours. They have a lovely flat in the city centre, and the food and drinks were good, but they had far too many people for the space. Still, it was good to chat to them and their adult daughters whom we'd known for most of their childhood.

We then crossed the city to an event where, eventually, a flotilla of lit boats made its way along a section of the Union Canal. It was OK in theory, and this was the best of them, but it wasn't worth the wait.
