While this is "just" a male chaffinch, on a stick, I think he looks a handsome chap in his winter colours.  He's even more colourful in the Spring.  

You can see that his legs and feet are showing evidence of scaly skin lesions.  This seems to be quite common to finches and (as it seems to affect the leg and not just the toes) is probably cnemidocoptosis caused by mites.

Fortunately Chaffinches with the problem appear to be relatively unaffected by the condition, (although in severe cases it can cause lameness).  Certainly it wasn't causing this chap any obvious issues.
