A day in the life

Teamwork

Todays job has been as one in the technical crew for a performance at Kalmar theatre, a play called "Fakk alla" a one person show about a girl in gang-related violence. The audience was kids from 12 and upwards, plus teachers and "ordinary" interested people. This play "Fuck all" in english is the third and last in a triologi about youth, drugs, gang-violence and shootings, this last one about the girls in the gangs, often as deep in criminality as the boys but they are in a much worse position to get help. I was surprised hos quiet the audience was throughout the hour and ten minutes. I'd expected kids running in an out, not being able to sit still. I was wrong and the play was received very well.

The play was rather simple, one actress and a screen with a background and some scene-clips, all controlled by the companys technician through his computer but, since everything is on que and has to happen simultaneously, there was also use for a sound person (me), a lighting person, all gathered in the technique closet room at the back of the theatre and one person in charge of what happened backstage. Four technicians plus the writer of the play and the actor herself, who had masses of text to deliver in a way that made the audience stay in their seats. We all performed very well and I hope and think that the message landed in the right places.
