The Edge of the Wold

Horns and rays

The highlands are alternating between the opposite ends of the big pasture in the mornings. I had a lie in this morning and was an hour later than usual, and by then they were all lying in the grass close to the highest point. The sun was breaking through small gaps in the clouds.

We had a social day, meeting Pam & Bern in the morning for a coffee and chat at Wolf House, there's always so much to talk about and never enough time. Bern reminded me of a very funny story of capercaillie feathers, not to be repeated here!

Then in the afternoon one of Wifie's Tai Chi friends, Julie and her husband Derek, came for a cup of tea and a scone. After a walk over the Knott with Gus again, we had neither the time nor the energy to cook a meal, so it was Arnside's famous fish & chips for dinner.

Last night we met up with Wifie's second cousin who was staying in Bowness. So, we have had a sociable start to our two week holiday. And the poor allotment is as neglected as ever. And, alas, tomorrow I have to go into work.
