An exciting morning

G turned up at 8:30am and announced that he was going to concrete downstairs today instead of tomorrow.  He’d been going to use ready mix concrete, but had done the calculations and realised that getting a cubic metre delivered by truck was the easier and more affordable option.  There was a bit more digging to do, so MrMacD and G got stuck in and I did bucket brigade.  By 10:25am we were ready and, on cue, the truck turned up.  G literally ran between the truck and the basement with a barrow load at a time and threw the barrow of concrete down into the “pit”, where a friend of his raked it out.  It was so funny to watch.  By 10:55am it was done, with just the levelling left to do.  G did that while we enjoyed our morning coffee, somewhat belatedly.  After lunch G told us that a cat had managed to walk across the slab and leave a trail of footprints.  Grrrr.  That meant G had to go and do more smoothing.  We closed all the doors so the cat couldn’t get back in and do it again.

The rest of the day was spent pottering and gardening and not doing much at all.  I need to get busy again, which is not difficult as there’s a lot I can do.

We walked to the Indian restaurant for a curry, then back to the Victoria Lounge for drinks.
