Grumpy Old Man

Lest we forget

Another very light frost this morning, but a beautifully sunny day thereafter. We planned to join the crowds going to the war memorial at the end of the Esplanade - the parade with pipers was scheduled to leave the Corran Halls at 10.30, but last year they were delayed for some reason. This year they left early so although we were on time they were a long way up the road.

We didn't hear the words as we were too far back - this is a telephoto shot - but at the end of the ceremony the parade turns round and marches back. We then went up for a look at the war memorial and the wreaths - my extra today. Who decided to put that lamp post just there!

Standing around for so long plays havoc with the knees, but I managed to dig out and a transfer couple of barrows of leafmould this afternoon. At this time of year the sun shines over the trees onto our garden seat, maybe for half an hour, but just as I went to put my jacket on the sun dropped into a bank of cloud, so it was a cuppa indoors again!
