Life in Sunny Dubai

Metro ride

(18/11/23)

I had a much-needed lie-in today, which was lovely. There is no time to let the grass grow under your feet though. The Peugeot garage only works half days on Saturdays, and we have to bring the car home!

We got there at noon. Not sure why, but it took over an hour. It didn't look like the car had been prepared to hand back. Today, we finally learnt how much the whole repair has cost. I have no idea what happened, but they didn't follow their (own) rules to inform me when costs were escalating. Khalid did what he could to apply all the discounts he could give. It helped, but it did not cover the cost of the car rental.

The first thing we did was drive to the nearest petrol station to fill both cars. We then went to Festival City, where the Peugeot got washed inside and out. We then returned the hire car. My blip is taken during a short metro journey, to get to our car. It shows Terminal 3 on the left and the Emirates Group headquarters in the distance.

We then went on a drive to reacquaint ourselves with the car. I can't believe how hot it still is. Unfortunately, I was driving into the sun most of the time. The car drove well, but the promised fuel economy after the engine overhaul is yet to be seen.

Home by 6:30 PM for a quiet evening.
