Uffington Horse and Dragon Hill

We headed home from Wiltshire today after a most enjoyable few days. En route we called in at the National Trust site of White Horse Hill. Here you can do a circular walk which takes in views of the Uffington Horse which is a Bronze age remains etched into the local chalk, Dragon Hill (a barrow which is said to be where St George slew and buried the dragon!) and a Bronze Age Hillfort called Uffington Castle. As we stood on Dragon Hill, enjoying the chalk scar, which is said to be where the dragon's blood poisoned the earth (scary place Oxfordshire!) a red kite circled above and below looking for prey. I couldn't do it justice with my lens but there are a couple of blips here and here.

If anyone fancies a few days' break in Wiltshire with the stones and the barrows, I can recommend a great B & B on the doorstep!
