The have and the have-not

The object of desire, and satisfaction, was a chocolate croissant. 

Dogs should not be given chocolate*  and she wasn't,  although we have discovered, by accident  rather than by design, that she is not adversely affected by it. 

Small children inevitably discover its existence whereupon it becomes strangely magnetic.


*It contains theobromine which is toxic for dogs.
