The three Rs

For weeks the kids at the local primary have been designing, making, planning, organising, and rehearsing for their Eco-fashion show.

The theme was Reduce Reuse Recycle. Using material from old bedding, curtains and clothes they had come up with a fantasmagorical collection. From evening wear to eye patches, ties made from sleeves and gloves from old socks. Hats out of plastic bottles and a wide variety of capes and ponchos. Interestingly the must have fashion item for young men in Orkney this year appears to be the sarong complete with eco warrior slogans.

To complete the spectacle they had a catwalk with strip lights, fantastic lighting effects, a superb selection of music, celebrity compare (Cameron of ye olde Big Brother fame) and a smoke machine that we never got to see because it had set off the fire alarms at the dress rehearsal this morning.

The audience whooped and cheered and laughed their heads off as the kids danced, vogued, and strutted their stuff down the catwalk. What a bunch of performers those kids are!
