The peaceful blockade

Rising tide and various other climate groups, pirates and the like, have staged a 30 hour blockade of Newy harbour preventing coal ships from leaving and arriving.  There was a massive police presence but it was a very peaceful demonstration and the police were keeping their distance, just observing.   Lots of kayaks and other water craft had taken to the harbour.  They had permission to be there too which I think made all the difference.  I didn't mind mostly foregoing Horseshoe beach either.  Maggy had a swim in the corner near Macquarie pier, ran around with a few other dogs and did her bit for a peaceful protest.

There are some more up on flickr if you are interested.   These people in red are the Red Rebels from Extinction Rebellion.
