Surely not

This is a clothes and shoes donation repository at the RSPCA centre opposite us. You pull out a kind of scoop drawer, pop your donated item in,  and then shut the drawer depositing the item in the depths of the container. I have never seen a sticker warning against depositing animals in one of these units before, but this is at an animal rescue centre. Surely no one can have been so ignorant or callous as to consider this to be an acceptable way of leaving an unwanted pet for the RSPCA to deal with?! I doubt that a distressed animal would be able to make itself heard if dropped into one of these things and would not survive for long.
