Red bellied Woodpecker

It was quite cold and snowy today; not enough to cover the ground except on the roads. There was a multi car pile up in Ohio; not sure about injuries, our cell signal has been terrible. There were tons of birds at the feeder all day. We enjoyed watching them during breakfast. This woody made the cut today. The county sent out ear piercing alerts all day about the 9-1-1 system being down, back up, down again. A neighbor came by telling us about coyote packs in the area. I had trouble sleeping last night. Lauren, Chase and Mackenzie are all sick with some unknown germ. All their tests were negative (flu, COVID, strep) but the urgent care doc said it may be too early to test positive. The two babies are still experiencing respiratory issues. I sure hope they will be fully recovered by the time I go home. Sky was ill also and did not go back to school until early this morning. I called her at 5:00 am to make sure she was ready to leave. Murphy’s Law, her car battery was dead. Thankfully her dad got the car started and she got back to school by 10:30. It had snowed in Frostburg and continued throughout the day. My grands wrote and said they were getting a few flakes in Maryland also. We sat around the fireplace and read. My sister is used to non-stop activity and started to feel bored. She got up and vacuumed the entire house. Hubby worked on his crosswords and read. Our BIL found things to do outside. He isn’t one to rest either. We still have turkey so dinner will be easy. I will be quite content reading this evening. Hope your day was restful and successful. Stay safe. Thanks for visiting. Will check your journals as well. “The beauty of woodpeckers is that they never seem bored.” - unknown
