Icy Arm

Canal arm that is. I think I've photographed a good chunk of the canal this week.

Out a touch earlier today to try and get some very early sunlight on the canal and with the temperature at -7.2 on our weather station I was very hopeful of some ice along the arm of the canal that comes into Ellesmere. I've only ever seen the main line of the canal freeze once but as there is no flow along the arm it often does. My timing was spot on as the sun was sending a glorious golden glow over the canal. The smoke from the boats helped with the atmosphere as well.
