Wouldn't it be nice if you could fill the title box with text rather than it stop 2/3 of the way along.  D major should read Dendrocopus major.

Another day when I have had to resort to one of my "just in case shots".  We have had quite a number of weeks when we have had no visits from a woodpecker.  Recently this female has started to visit.

Great Spotted Woodpeckers are a species that compared to many species are doing well.  There has been a 400% increase in numbers over the last half century or so.  The other surprising fact is in 2008 they started to colonise Ireland, previously there had been no woodpeckers over there.
