Common Seal

I was on duty at Horsey today as a seal warden. Before my shift I headed to Winterton (just down the coast) where seals have taken over the beach and dunes. Because of the recent Spring tides many seals have been forced onto the dunes and sadly many pups lost as they could not make it up quickly enough. This seal had hauled herself up from the beach onto the dunes and across the coast path.  Despite their ungainly shape and size (300kg) they can travel some distance from the seashore to give birth....and often do.
