The second half of life..

Petrel......or young albatross...??

Woke to rather unpleasant weather.......lots of rain ad wind overnight.  Picked G up then headed to the Whalewatch office to check in for our boat trip.  Unsurprisingly, it was cancelled due to the weather and whilst we were disappointed, we knew that a 5m swell would be neither fun nor safe.  We re-booked for tomorrow morning.  Fingers crossed.  With the day free to do a few other things we took a walk up the headland overlooking the uplifted seabed.  Wow!  A howling wind made it almost impossible to even simply stand upright.  Whilst we didn't see a great deal from up there we did spot this bird with a mahoosive wingspan circling the nearby seagull colony.  After it landed in the very rough water, groups of seagulls continuously bombed it, suggesting it was a predator bird so probably a petrel.

Spotted poppa Paradise duck taking the kids for a walk later........and later still, a little dotterel in the carpark we'd stopped at for a cuppa.
We had an interesting if rather cold and windy interlude.
