Lingering

According to the Met Office yesterday, the forecast for today looked quite promising in terms of being a little warmer than of late, and dry enough, to plant a few of the bare-root roses that arrived last week. Wrong! According to MrM's thermometer it was -4.9°C at 9.00am, and the temperature stayed below freezing all day! No chance!

A late afternoon walk in to Holmfirth with MrM to post a few cards, but also to stretch our legs, though I'm not sure that  breathing in such cold air did my head cold any good! We went along the cliff track to its end, then down some very steep, very narrow roads leading to the far side of the town. (Never seen a road sign before quite like the one the extra!) We took our time going down as some of the pavements were covered in sheet ice. The photo was taken towards the end of the cliff track - snow still lingering on the north-facing fields.

No jazz club tonight - wouldn't be fair to spread this lurgy...
