Exit Planet Dust

Not a very exciting blip today, as I spent pretty much the full day DIYing in the kitchen (again!). Started off by sanding the skirting boards in preparation for painting either tomorrow or one night during the week, and, following the arrival of the father-in-law, moved on to fitting some of the new units that were lying around the place.

Twas quite a productive day to be honest - got the cooker unit in, a base unit and a wall unit, however perhaps the most satisfying accomplishment of the day was the fact that we managed to fit a unit into the corner from hell. Basically, we've hacked the living shit out of a unit to enable it to fit around a particularly dense patch of boiler-pipework and drain pipes (does any one else have their drain pipes on the inside of their house?) and, quite frankly I'm amazed that the thing is still rigid. It took about 2 hours just to get all the cuts just right to enable the unit to fit flush with the walls. The pile of sawdust and wood cuttings above is a small testament to what had to come off, although there was much more (and much larger) bits just slightly out of shot.

Still, we're getting there. Slowly! Hopefully the worktops will arrive this week, and we'll have running water & a cooker by next weekend!
