Wound up in Wexford

Kilkenny

We had a meeting in New Ross in the morning, and popped into Tesco afterwards to buy a few things that have been on our shopping list for some weeks.  Tesco is, we find, quite a lot more expensive than Lidl or Aldi, but the range of products is much wider.

Then I spent another couple of hours on some e-admin - deleting emails and unsubscribing from many sites, and W put up a couple of clocks and some hooks for our stained glass panels.

In the late afternoon we drove up to Kilkenny.  I'd booked tickets for a concert.  Kilkenny is a lovely city, and we will enjoy a chance to explore it further next summer, but the considerable threat of rain discouraged us from attempting any wandering today.  We just drove there, parked, had dinner in the bar of The Hibernian Hotel, then went to the castle.

The venue was spectacular - The Picture Gallery at Kilkenny Castle.  Music in Kilkenny has the tag "Exceptional music in extraordinary locations" and this venue certainly lived up to that tag.

And the music was pretty good too.  The Ficino Quartet played a varied selection of works, including a new work composed by their cellist, Ailbhe McDonagh - see extra, if I ever manage to add it.
