Winter in my garden

I planned to take a walk in winter wonderland after shuffling the snow, but lost energy.

A friend sent me a newspaper article about Z in Gaza. I have met him several time. A fisherman, a bit shy since he doesn't speak English, with kind eyes and a big heart. The article is one month old and is his testimony from when he and hundred thousands others had to flee from the Al-Shati refugee camp and other places in Gaza city to the Khan Younis. It is heartbreaking to read!

- There were bodies everywhere. Some decomposed, some were charred. Horrific scenes, enough to make a stone cry. Enough to make a stone cry.

One relative, 86 years old lady, fell down of fatigue and died. It was too long distance for her to walk. Others got shot if they stopped walking.

Z is still alive one month later, fleeing again from a so-called safe zone. He is now in Rafah like so many others. He never told me about the article or shares nearly nothing of his experiences. There are no words. He has said it all: "...enough to make a stone cry. Enough to make a stone cry."
