Comfort Food

Wet, cold but as yet no snow. I doubt that we will get any although the forecasters are predicting snow to sea level in many places. It is snowing further back, let it stay there.

An indoor day for sure.....Doug pottering in the kitchen making pumpkin soup and gingernuts. He bought me a cup of tea and a couple of biscuits - blip it before enjoying it. The red glow in the background is our cosy fire.

A couple of unexpected visitors today - both from our long ago past. We lived on the road to Mt Cook back in the 70's when the new road was being constructed. This was due to huge hydro dam/canals being built which in turn meant the level of Lake Pukaki rose and flooded the road to Mt Cook area. Doug was one of the roading engineers in charge of the construction and we lived for three years in a Ministry of Works "camp" situation. We loved it and made many friends.

Have a look at the road, we lived amongst those trees on the right side

Any rate, all these years later we are holding a Mt Cook Road reunion at Labour Weekend (three weeks after our Photographic Convention) The guy who is running this, doing the registrations and website is buggering off to Timor for three months. Muggins me is taking over his job - do I need it...NO.
