The Devil's Shop

Pharmacies in France are so tempting. The devil sits on your shoulder urging you to buy tempting and interesting creams and gels. Not only that, it's attached to the medical clinic.

So I went into the doctors' surgery to get my swollen and stiff calf looked at (see Sunday's Blip). I was offered an appointment in the afternoon. ON THE SAME DAY! The doctor saw me on time and reassured me that it was just a case of waiting for it to get better - might go up to Christmas.

Cost of consultation €26.
Ibuprofen and paracetamol €13
Crutch €12

So all sorted in one day for £50. Is this a model for the NHS?

Now I'm hobbling around on a crutch stick with an ice pack on my leg. Happy holidays!
