The Royal Citadel

I had a trip today to the city dump (Recycling Centre). Afterwards a quick walk around Hooe, Turnchaple, Mount Batten and Jennycliff. From Mountbatten there are good views across Plymouth Sound to the city waterfront. The stout wall and  buildings here are the Royal Citadel, which was built during the 1660s. It is still in use today and is home to 29 Commando Regiment of the Royal Artillery. It was due to be decommissioned next year but this has now been extended for a further 10 years.
