Blip Advent Calendar - Day 14!

Window 14 provides a view of the beautiful festive scene inside The Piece Hall in Halifax. I decided to go for a change of stroll this evening and was treated to a new variety of lights, and festive displays, as I did so.

The Piece Hall is looking stunning with a big wheel covered in dazzling lights, the spiegeltent and the giant Christmas lettering. There's also the enormous 45 foot Christmas tree which is covered in gorgeous bright lights with a star on the top. This is the second Christmas tree of the season as the original tree toppled over last Saturday in the 58mph winds of Storm Elin. The fallen tree was dismantled and recycled - and a replacement was found!

My class started making their very own Christmas stockings this afternoon. They cut out a template, then cut out two felt stocking shapes and have now started to connect them together. They're using any of the stitches we've been working on for the part few weeks with most going for running or over stitch. They did really well, and we'll continue to project in the coming week.

Today's quote is from Brené Brown and reflects the sparkling lights of The Piece Hall.

"Twinkle lights are the perfect metaphor for joy. Joy is not a constant. It comes to us in moments - often ordinary moments. Sometimes we miss out on bursts of joy because we're too busy chasing down extraordinary moments. Other time were so afraid of the dark that we don't dare let ourselves enjoy the light. A joyful life is made up of joyful moments gracefully string together by gratitude, inspiration and faith."

I love that!
