A long day, a good day

My alarm went off at 4am this morning ready for an early train to Glasgow. A far less nerve-wracking prospect than the same time last year when I was about to meet 60 people who I had never met before.

I was just about to board the 7.30 from Crewe when I saw my gorgeous colleague, Gillian, on board. We had a delightful catch up which made the journey to Glasgow much more enjoyable.

Onto the office for an afternoon meeting, sharing the highlights from the last year and looking forward to next year. A lovely experience this time, having been part of the activities of the last year. A glass of fizz to end the meeting and time for a quick change at the hotel before hitting the town for our Christmas party.

A wonderful evening of celebrating, dancing and having a good time. Utterly exhausted by the end of it though.

It’s been a great day but without a doubt the absolute highlight was hearing from Jess, who’d been out to India and Zambia on a couple of media trips. Hearing the stories of some of the children who receive Mary’s Meals and the literal life-changing impact it has on their lives was just very humbling and sobering.
