A view from Jeanneb

Wild poppies.

Escaped again today as we were told to make the most of the weather and it has certainly been a lovely warm, if slightly humid day.

We headed to South Yorkshire to Conisborough Castle only to find it was shut! Not being far from Brodsworth Hall instead which we visited last September for the first time.
From the A1 I could see lots of wild poppies, some just along the edge of the fields and others almost whole fields full. This was a thrill for me as we tend not to see this in West Yorkshire (not my bit any way) but of course we couldn't stop for photos. When we turned into the drive at Brodsworth the adjoining fields were full of Oilseed Rape edged with poppies!

So this just had to be my blip for today.

The sunken garden at Brodsworth was lovely too especially the perennial geraniums and the emerging ferns. The formal gardens were just being planted up and the croquet players were just arriving as we left. They are currently having a wartime theme in the house but it was too nice to go inside!

Won't last!

This is another view of the fields stretching into the distance - in large there seems to be a butterfly passing by in this, shot!
