Seasalter beach, Whitstable

The sun shone from a blue sky this morning leading to an impromptu visit to the north Kent coast for a walk along the beach, through Whitstable harbour and out to Tankerton and back.

A glorious day, quite the antidote to the several days of dankness we’ve had recently. The air was clear, beautiful skies and only a gentle breeze. The harbour and town were very busy with people out enjoying the weather.

When we arrived the tide was out so far that it seemed likely you could have walked to Essex if you had the time - or at least to the isle of Sheppey which can be seen on the horizon

By the time we’d finished lunch at our favourite watering hole, the Continental Hotel to the east of the harbour the tide had risen and the extensive view over the estuary and the mussel beds had once again been submerged.

We went to see Doreen this afternoon who seemed quite chipper, much better than she had done for a while, which is good news all round. Thank you for your continuing good wishes
