Tipu's Tiger

I got the husband to go to the V&A today, supposedly to see the Bowie exhibition (which was very good). Secretly though I was hoping to see Tipu's Tiger.

Huh? What's that?

Anyone of my age who watched Blue Peter knows that it's a wooden carving of an englishman being eaten by a tiger. I believe if you crank the handle, the teeth sink into the man's neck, his arm waves feebly and you hear chomping and growling noises. Yup this is the stuff we were raised on!

It was everything I hoped it would be, except I didn't get to crank the handle!

I also discovered that in Bowie's handwritten lyrics it was Weird and Gilly not Will and Gilly. You learn something new every day :)
