Svante - our local collie

We were out for a walk heading towards town and we passed one of our more distant neighbours, Rune. He was out clearing snow because more is on the way, and his collie, Svante, was sitting around watching. Often as we drive past we see the dog, he likes sitting outside watching the world drive by.

Actually the snow had started falling as we walked and if you look closely you can see the snow flakes sitting on Svante's coat.
We had a long chat about the village and its inhabitants. We found out a neighbour had died while we were in England, and we discussed a formerly lively neighbour who can no longer get out due to the ravages of old-age. Such is life and gossip in a village pretty much anywhere in the world.

We walked on around the lake and then headed for home where I started a new batch of sourdough crackers. My turn to bake at last!
I think we are now completely ready for Christmas with the larder, fridge and freezer all full! Soon it will time to bake, eat, drink and be merry!
