Salt dough Santa

Salt dough Santa is a venerable survivor of many Christmases. He's part of a set of decorations made of dough, painted and varnished (not by me - they came from Latin America, via our local fair trade shop).  A close-up photo reveals that he's showing a bit of wear and tear these days; aren't we all...
We don't usually get a tree for Christmas, but hang the decorations on an array of branches.  Usually these are the midwinter prunings from the quince tree in the garden. It grows fast enough to produce a good display.
It's all looking good, and apart from a few small things to do tomorrow, we've mostly caught up with the preparations.
