The View in Switzerland

Today we decided to have a short drive and to have lunch in Gandria in Switzerland. This was the view from our table in the restaurant. So the lake here is Lake Lugano. The southern end of the lake is in Italy, Gandria is about ten minutes north of the border, and perhaps a similar distance south of Lugano itself.

Gandria is a very small village of a few hundred people and several restaurants crammed in between the lake and the hillside. Vehicles cannot enter the village which is comprised of a series of small steep alleys between the houses. There is a very nice ceramic shop at the entrance to the village which sells only its own produce. I may have bought a couple of small wine jugs and a cockerel.

A pleasant lunch next to the lake watching the occasional boat pass by. Returned to Lake Como and Lenno in the late afternoon. There is a lot more activity, boats etc. on Lake Como than there was in Lake Lugano, nonetheless Gandria is a charming place to visit.
