Roses Grow On You

I've blipped these almshouses before, though not in summer when the roses are blooming and old sandstone walls glow - even on a grey day such as this. The forecast warned of rain, so I dashed around the park ahead of the drizzle.

The almshouses are just around the corner from my place so I pass them often on my walks, yet never tire of seeing them as the seasons roll around. Built in 1675, they are amongst the most 'modern' of the buildings in the heart of the village, still fulfilling their purpose of providing four homes for people in need for a peppercorn rent.
