Carving the pumpkin

As is our way, tonight was the big Christmas dinner. Our neighbourhood vegan, TallGirl, came up with an excellent centrepiece idea to stuff one of the tiny pumpkins I was bullied into buying as autumn decorations (because that’s a thing now, apparently) with rice and the chickpeas opened due to my need for aquafaba to make a chocolate log. Turns out stuffed squash is quite filling. We will be eating it for some days.

Tonight, however, the rest of us had slow cooked lamb shoulder. (Delicious). And also a rather delicious Pauillac.

Earlier, lots of wrapping of presents, baking, disastrous vegan Yorkshire puddings (and some perfectly acceptable normal Yorkshires) and some late in the day Christmas wreath making, and post-dinner Bananagrams and charades. My ‘Sunday in the Park with George’ with CarbBoy as guesser resulted in a seven minute meander via ‘sounds like angry Jedi man’ (Sith) and finally got to ‘with’ via French (sounds like ‘a mec’).
