Leaving Barbados

Travelling is becoming more and more of a chore as years pass. I remember in my youth looking forward to the flights but now it is just something to be suffered or tolerated. Despite a scheduled 5:30 pm departure we left the ship just after 12:00 pm, arriving at the airport before 1 pm. Almost immediately we were notified the flight was delayed. Sitting in the departure hall, we just accepted the long wait finally taking off at 8 pm, 2 and a half hours late.

At least we were met by the head stewardess to tell us our suitcases were back in Manchester and could be picked up in the baggage hall. Finally things were looking up and we should be home by 9 am Christmas Eve, or so we thought………………
