today's another day

Present

An original watercolour from my daughter.

The student house I lived in in 1990 in Newcastle upon Tyne, and the one she lives in now, 33 years later.

90 Cardy T was £17 a week, had no central heating, a gas fire in each room and was a student dump. We had no shower, just the 'fallopian tubes', the rubber attachment you put over the bath taps for showering. When it rained people waited in our house for the bus as the stop was outside on the No 1 bus route.

26 Mayfair Road is in West Jesmond, £580 a month, sleeps 8, has 3 bathrooms and as Lucy moved in new mattresses arrived for this years in mates. Handy for the Metro Station, Oliver Bonas, Sweaty Betty, Waitrose, Joules and any number of swanky cafés.

How times change!
