Thief

Sitting in my back yard, hoping for a hummingbird to blip, I soon discovered that the most action in the neighborhood was happening in our neighbor's cherry tree, where the lovely red fruit had just ripened. I watched one robin pick up a cherry that had fallen to the ground and fly away with it. The takeoff was a bit wobbly because of the added weight, but he didn't crash land. The robin in the picture chose to enjoy his treat on the ground where he found it, while other birds were in the tree, picking the fruit right off the branches.
