Hanging on

A very common moth around here is the Poplar Hawk moth, surprisingly large for a moth. I love it's furry face.

It is a relatively easy moth to photograph as it is reluctant to fly, it is large bodied and makes a great meal for a bird if it is seen during the day so it relies on it's camouflage and keeping still. If I am showing moths to school groups kids love it because it is big enough to handle with care.

Much of today spent chillin out at the school sports. Some prizes won so no tears from the littlest today.

Thanks for all the stars, comments and favs for yesterdays pic, much appreciated as it is not very easy to get opportunities to take photos of wild Red deer stags
