A time for everything

Christmas Eve

Sunday
It was a busy day today, starting with our usual Sunday morning service, in which the handbells (including us) were playing the prelude and some of the handbells, (excluding us) together with the organ, were accompanying the choir. After our lunch, I was making a trifle for this evening, and preparing a few things for tomorrow, as well as preparing this evenings meal for the slow cooker, while Roger and Laura prepared the luminaries ready for the evening. The weather is currently very mild, in stark contrast to last year, when we were experiencing a frigid Arctic blast!
Jen and Jason were driving up from Atlanta today, and they arrived about 5.15, which just gave us time to have a cup of tea and a mince pie together, before Roger and I had to leave for a choir practice at 6.30 ahead of the 7.30 Christmas Eve service, which included orchestral accompaniment to the carols and choir anthems, as well as Praise band participation. It was a wonderful service celebrating the coming of the infant Jesus into this world, including the traditional singing of Silent Night by candlelight.
It was 8.15 before we were returning home, so it was a very late dinner, but so good to have the five of us around the dinner table again!
