Repairing Storm Gerrit

A bit of snow in places today.  A cold day, cloudy but dry and fairly calm.  Calm, clear and frosty tonight.

Up early, a morning around the house.  Met friend Julie before lunch, and headed out walkies up north.  Headed down to Laura's this evening.  More walkies, then off to bed early.

It sure was a wild night last night. Winds speeds up to 88mph.  There's been a lot of damage around the isles.  Shetland Hotel roof blew off, various homes damaged, mostly roofs, various trees blown down, fences knocked over, sheds etc.  There was also damage to power lines, with 2,700 homes put into darkness, still over 500 tonight.  A chilly time with no power.  The SSE (Southern Scottish Energy) have been working hard to repair the damage, like here in the hill.  Thankfully a nicer day for them to be out at work, not great when the gales are still blowing.  Men up Fillifield, near Brae.
