Stirling castle- very busy despite rain

I popped up to Stirling castle this afternoon to check out their gift shop sale (years ago we won lifetime membership in a raffle) only to discover the place was heaving with visitors.
“It’s as busy as in the summer” said one castle guide.
“No, it’s busier” I said.
 It’s true. The car park was full and they were queuing to get in despite Storm Gerritt.
