Socks and stockings

I did eventually find the Christmas stockings, and J's was filled by around 2 am, which is much the same as usual. The contents were largely unexciting and the usual mix, but she still enjoyed opening the little packages while the pains au chocolat (frozen ready to bake) were in the oven. We had a quiet day, low key and pleasant, with a second serving of P's excellent vegan roast dinner. The highlight for J was probably the Dr Who Christmas special, launching the new doctor and companion, and I watched it with her; it was fun, and she's now impatient for the new series, which won't start till March.

The photo shows one of the lost and found stockings with our collection of mini stockings and socks, which didn't make it onto the tree this year - we have a rather small tree and far more accumulated treasures than it can accommodate at once. The one with J's initial was made with her first after-school childminder when she was very young, and the largest of the four hand knitted ones has a properly turned heel, a long ago gift from my cousin though I don't know if she knitted it.

Happy Christmas and best wishes to all, whether or not you celebrate this festival.
