Seeing Beyond Looking

Relaxing and Learning

Have you noticed how much we learn from animals?
We learn respect.
We learn how to accept them, just as they are, without wanting to mould them according to our expectations.

This is the first time that I've had the experience of living with a British Shorthair breed. They are not lap cats, nor are they animals which cuddle up to be as close as possible, purring all over the place!

They are rather placid, not high jumpers, rather independent, and in the case of Honey, she has a very discreet purr.  She does not like to be petted when she isn't in the mood (even if I am feeling affectionate towards her).  So if I ignore her just a little, she will often come near me, roll on her back with her four paws in the air, indicating: "stroke and loving time"!

So finally, a cat sets the rules and we learn to recognize the the signs and the body language which tell us what we may, or may not, do!

I'm still learning!
