California Vacation ...

... day 2.

We knew that we didn’t have to be in Indio to check into our resort until later in the afternoon so we spent some time with my mom this morning. 


One of our favorite places to visit is Double Peaks observation area so after breakfast we drove up there.  We had a lovely time before returning to mom’s to pack up the car for our trip to Indio … which is about two hours away.  One of the roads leading down into the Palm Springs area is a very steep downhill road.  At the top is an overlook that we stopped at to check out the view.  At this overlook were two cyclists … who just so happened to start their descent at the same time as we were.  I’ve added in Extras one of the many shots I took of these crazy cyclists!

We have a special evening planned with some very special people … fellow blipper Shirleyray and her husband, T.   And, of course, Bunker thier dog!

After checking in the resort and unpacking some of our things we drove to their place for a delicious supper. And after supper we spent the evening at the Living Desert Zoo’s spectacular light display.  S had contacted me a few weeks ago to see if we would be interested in doing this … Yes, please!
My main shot is a collage of just a small portion of the beautiful sights we saw here tonight.  The group of us can be seen in the lower left pic. We really had a wonderful evening with Sheryl and Tony and have arranged to meet Sheryl at the Zoo again on Monday during the day to actually see the animals!
