The view from above

We left Inverness with the sky lifting and the opportunity to take Berry for a last walk in woodland.  Here's a view from Ord Hill of the Moray Firth and the city.

And the (very) muddy (small) puddle that Berry enjoyed whilst we chatted to a couple of fellow walkers. Who knew such a small volume of water could hold such a large amount of mud??!

We were delighted to find out favourite pit stop was open - usually closed on a Sunday - and spent even more time there relaxing over a delicious Queen of Puddings, largely bought in memory of Chris's mum who used to make a mean version.

And that is how, dear reader, we found ourselves arriving at the ferry terminal to see the ferry already docked and waiting.

A bit of panic, but a consultation with the lass checking us in revealed that the ferry was ahead of itself and we weren't actually late. Thank goodness.

Home safely now. To a house that has obviously experienced a power cut.  So the trusty heart-of-the-home Aga is stone cold and there is no other heating.

Honestly, it's great. We have the real fire going and are snug as bugs reading our books to see in the New Year.  Berry is happily ensconced (extra), hot water bottles are ready in the bed to ward off the chill and a glass or two of fizzy. I think we've just created a new tradition!

Happy New Year to you all :-)
