Wound up in Wexford

New Year’s Eve

We woke at a sensible hour, took our time showering and breakfasting. Then back to our air-conditioned room to recover – we’re finding the heat and humidity quite draining. We eventually dragged ourselves out for a local wander, found the rather nice flowers blipped. The more upmarket hotel just down the coast has a congenial restaurant. So juice and then rather tasty salads were welcome. And the view was wonderful.

Getting back to our hotel we found that the beach party about which we had been pre-informed was just getting set up. A tent with VERY loud music, directly in front of our room. And occasional fireworks. Hey ho – it’s New Year’s Eve. We’ve spent the afternoon reading and surviving the “music” Internet very intermittent. Popped to our hotel restaurant for a drink and a small supper. Once back in our room, I’d just removed my shoes when a much bigger firework display started just up the coast. Afraid I didn’t have the energy to put shoes back on and go down on to the beach to watch.

We’ve an early start tomorrow, so we hope this doesn’t go on till midnight. Taking with a pinch of salt the staff’s assurance it will stop around 8pm, as it’s already that time and no obvious diminution.
