Frome Market

It had to be this photo today - some of my babies in the auction ring at Frome Market this morning. The auctioneer is saying "Gentlemen, look at these cracking cattle!" I felt like a proud mother at school prize-giving :-) The top 8 month old steer sold for £880 and the top heifer for £820 - these are very good prices! We sell them in batches of 4, 6 or 8, so that they even when they move to their new homes, they go with some brothers or sisters.

Meanwhile, back at the farm, the cows will shout their heads off for 3 days and nights, then they will glare at us for a week, then they will forget and become their normal placid selves, until their new babies arrive in September/October, when they will become fiercely proud mothers again...
